PETA Friendly Portraits

I welcomed Solon High School’s Jourdan Walker to the studio a little bit ago. Knowing that Jourdan wants to study fashion marketing in college I knew that she would bring some fantastic outfits for her Indoor Top Model portrait session. Here she is in the studio’s first little black dress in leather. How cool.

Next up, a fur vest. I loved how the colors of the backdrop and her outfit worked together. I told Jordan that PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wouldn’t be too happy with her senior portraits. Jourdan laughed and assured me that the fur was fake and the black dress was artificial leather as well.

I take inspiration from trend leading photographers,  fashion advertisement, and pop culture. Ever since I saw Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday album cover I wanted to try something like it. I knew I needed just the right senior for such a shot and Jourdan was perfect. I don’t know what was more fun, setting up the portrait or playing with Photoshop to get the effect.
